This console was marketed as the first 64-bit video game console, while competing with the existing 16-bit consoles Sega Genesis and Super Nintendo Entertainment System. Being the last console to be created under the Atari series of home video game consoles, the Atari Jaguar is the sixth programmable console release in North America in November 1993 and in other parts in 1994, by the Atari Corporation.
